Caring for your teeth
It is important that dentist and patient work together to keep a good standard of oral health.
Diet
Try to avoid foods and drinks containing refined sugars. These
can encourage dental decay especially if eaten frequently between meals.
Dentists are also increasingly aware of the risks of consuming acidic foods
and drinks such as fruits, white wine and carbonated drinks which can cause
dental erosion and make teeth extra sensitive if left in contact with
teeth for long periods. Please ask for advice.
Oral Hygiene
Teeth should be brushed thoroughly twice a day to help prevent gum
disease with an effective hand brushing technique or an electric toothbrush.
Some patients may also need to floss or use interdental brushes. Please ask
for a demonstration.
